सोमवार को मुरथल विश्वविद्यालय में आयोजित समारोह में जल-संरक्षण को प्रोत्साहित करने वाले आरडब्ल्यूए, किसानों, पंचायतों व सामाजिक संगठनों को जल-योद्धा सम्मान से विभूषित किया गया। जिसमें गन्नौर क्षेत्र के गांव चिरस्मी की सरपंच उषा देवी व कैलाना गांव के पूर्व सरपंच विरेंद्र कैलाना को चुना गया। मुरथल विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति डा. राजेंद्र कुमारा अनायत ने जल बचाने वाले कार्यकर्ताओं को सम्मानित किया। उषा देवी व विरेंद्र कैलाना ने इस सम्मान से नवाजे जाने पर पानी बचाओ जन चेतना अभियान समिति का आभार व्यक्त किया।

उन्होंने कहा कि जल संसाधनों के संरक्षण और पर्यावरण की रक्षा करने के लिए हमें जल का संरक्षण करने का प्रण लेना चाहिए। उषा देवी व विरेंद्र फौगाट ने कहा कि उन्होंने अपने-अपने गगांव में जल संरक्षण के साथ-साथ पर्यावरण को बचाने के लिए गांव व मुख्य सड़कों पर हजारों में संख्या में पौधे रोपित कर गांव को हरा भरा रखने का प्रयास किया। जिसमें ग्रामीणों ने भी उनका भरपूर सहयोग किया। ग्रामीणों के सहयोग के बिना न जल संरक्षण हो सकता था और न ही गांव को हराभरा रखा जा सकता था। सही मायने में इस सम्मान के सही हकदार उनके गांव के लोग हैं। उन्होंने समितियों के साथ-साथ ग्रामीणों का भी आभार व्यक्त किया।
