सीडीएस रावत बहुत बेबाक , निडर और साहसी व्यक्ति थे, वह जितने सख्त सैन्य अधिकारी थे उतने ही सरल व्यक्ति थे। उनके सीडीएस बनने के बाद चीन बार्डर पर सैन्य तैयारियों में बहुत तेजी आयी थी, चीन सीडीएस विपिन रावत की विशेषज्ञ पेशेवर रणनीति से बेचैन रहने लगा था, चीन बार्डर पर उसकी बौखलाहट स्पष्ट देखने को मिल रही थी।

वह हर मौके पर सबकी मदद करने में बहुत आगे थे। उनका मथुरा से विशेष लगाब था। भाजपा विधि प्रकोष्ठ के प्रदेश महासचिव हरेंद्र शर्मा एडवोकेट ने कहा कि कुन्नूर के निकट हेलीकॉप्टर हादसे में सीडीएस रावत सहित 11 सैन्य अधिकारियों की मौत से ब्रजवासी स्तब्ध और बहुत गमगीन हैं, इस हादसे में ब्रज के लाल विंग कमांडर पृथ्वी सिंह चौहान भी शहीद हो गए हैं। ब्रज यातायात एवं पर्यावरण जन जागरूकता समिति रजि उत्तर प्रदेश के संस्थापक अध्यक्ष विनोद दीक्षित ने कहा कि ऐसा हादसा फिर से न हो उसके लिए केंद्र सरकार को गम्भीर कदम उठाने चाहिए।
