नेपाल का मूल निवासी 14 वर्षीय बालक रमेश अनुसार उसे उसकी सौतेली मां ने हिमाचल प्रदेश (भारत) की बस में बिठाकर हिमालच भेज दिया था। जहां वह लावारिस अवस्था में रहा, वहां वह एक व्यक्ति के पास काम करके गुजर-बसर कर रहा था। किंतु घरवालों से मिलने की चाहत में कुछ दिनों उपरांत रमेश वहां से मौका देख कर भाग निकला। अंबाला की एक बस में सवार होकर सोनीपत के कुंडली बॉर्डर पर धरनारत किसानों के बीच जा पहुंचा। यहां से बालक को पुलिस ने चाईल्ड वैल्फेयर कमेटी के पास भेजा और काउंसलिंग के बाद सपना बाल कुंज में भेज दिया।
डीसीपीओ डा. रितु के निर्देशन में बाल संरक्षण अधिकारी आरती ने रमेश के परिजनों को ढूंढऩे के लिए प्रयास प्रारंभ कर दिए। एंटी ह्यूमन ट्रैफिकिंग यूनिट की सहायता से बालक के परिजनों को ढूंढ़ लिये गए। नेपाल में कार्यरत एनजीओ किन ने सहयोग किया। बालक मूल रूप से नेपाल के सलागढ़ा बुलबुले सुरखेत का निवासी मिला। कोरोना काल के चलते तथा जरूरी औपचारिकताओं के चलते कुछ समय तक बालक को नेपाल नहीं भेजा जा सका। डीसीपीओ डा. रितु ने बताया कि रमेश के पिता करण बहादुर को सोनीपत आये और अपने बेटे को साथ लेकर चले गए।
