गुरुवार को गुड़ मंडी परिसर में लाला लाजपत राय की प्रतिमा पर माल्यार्पण करते हुए मुख्यमंत्री के पूर्व मीडिया सलाहकार राजीव जैन ने अपने विचार रखते हुए कहा कि देश को पहला स्वदेशी बैंक देने वाले लाला लाजपत राय को पंजाब का शेर कहा जाता था। उन्होंने अपनी जान की बाजी लगाई, जिसका नतीजा हुआ कि चंद्रशेखर आजाद, भगत सिंह, सुखदेव, राजगुरु ने उनकी मृत्यु के जिम्मेदार ब्रिटिश अफसर सांडर्स को मौत के घाट उतारा। उन्होंने कहा कि हमें चाहिए कि लाला जी की जयंती पर विद्यार्थियों को उनकी देश के प्रति समर्पण भाव से अवगत कराएं तथा उनमें देश के लिए दायित्व का बोध करवाएं।
