एसएस न्यूज.पेरिस। वर्ल्ड नंबर-1 सर्बिया के नोवाक जोकोविच ने खिताब की ओर मजबूती से कदम उठाते हुए एक मैराथन सेमीफाइनल मुकाबले में वर्ल्ड नंबर-3 स्पेन के राफेल नडाल को हराकर यहां जारी फ्रेंच ओपन टेनिस टूर्नामेंट के फाइनल में प्रवेश कर लिया। जोकोविच ने 13 बार के चैंपियन नडाल को चार सेटों तक चले मुकाबले में नडाल को 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 से मात दी। सर्बियाई खिलाड़ी ने चार घंटे और 22 मिनट तक चले मुकाबले में जीत अपने नाम की। फ्रेंच ओपन में 105-2 (जीत-हार) का रिकॉर्ड रखने वाले नडाल का इससे पहले जोकोविच के खिलाफ 7-1 का रिकॉर्ड था। फाइनल में अब जोकोविच का सामना ग्रीस के स्टेफानोस सितसिपास से होगा, जिन्होंने इस साल केवल एक ही सेट गंवाया है।
जोकोविच इससे पहले 2015 के क्वार्टर फाइनल में भी नडाल को हरा चुके थे। 2005 में अपना पहला फ्रेंच ओपन और 2020 में अपना आखिरी फ्रेंच ओपन खिताब जीतने वाले नडाल इस दौरान अब तक केवल तीन ही बार इस टूर्नामेंट हारे हैं। इनमें 2009 में उन्हें चौथे राउंड में रोबिन सोडलिर्ंग से, 2015 में क्वार्टर फाइनल में जोकोविच से हार का सामना करना पड़ा था। 2016 में चोट के कारण वह तीसरे राउंड से बाहर हो गए थे।
