उपायुक्त श्याम लाल पूनिया ने शहर में लगने वाले जाम पर कड़ा संज्ञान लेते हुए इसके समाधान के लिए हर संभव कदम उठाने के निर्देश दिए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि जाम का प्रमुख कारण नियमों की अवहेलना तथा अतिक्रमण है। अत: सभी सडक़ों तथा चौराहों और बाजारों से अतिक्रमण हटवायें, ताकि आम जनमानस को राहत मिल सके।
उपायुक्त पूनिया शुक्रवार को लघु सचिवालय में रोड सेफ्टी तथा सुरक्षित स्कूल वाहन पॉलिसी की समीक्षात्मक बैठक की अध्यक्षता कर रहे थे। उन्होंने विशेष रूप से राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग संख्या-44 तथा शहर में जाम की स्थिति को नियंत्रित करने पर विचार-विमर्श किया। उन्होंने निर्देश दिए कि लोगों को जाम से निजात दिलाने के लिए तीव्रता से प्रयास किये जायें। अवैध रूप से अतिक्रमणकारियों के उन्होंने नियमित रूप से चालान करने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि शहर में बाजारों में व प्रमुख सडक़ों पर बिना अनमुति के चलने वाले सर्विस सेंटरों के भी चालान किये जायें। उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर एक दर्जन से अधिक स्थानों पर व्यवस्था को बेहतरीन करने के निर्देश दिए। नाथूपुर सबोली मार्ग के चौड़ीकरण के निर्देश दिए। राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर पानी के जमावड़े को तुुरंत प्रभाव से दूर करने के निर्देश दिए।
उपायुक्त ने आवारा कुत्तों से आम जनमानस को राहत दिलाने के लिए कार्रवाई के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि ऑटो में दाहिनी ओर से सवारियों को बिठाने व उतारने पर कार्रवाई की जाए। उन्होंने चौराहों की रि-डिजाईनिंग, अवैध कट बंद करवाने, कनैक्टिंग रोड पर स्पीड ब्रेकर बनाने, सडक़ों पर पेड़ों की कटाई-छंटाई, ब्लैक स्पॉट चिन्हित करने, रोड मार्किंग, स्ट्रीट लाइट, सडक़मार्गों से बिजली के पोल हटाने आदि के संदर्भ में भी विशेष निर्देश दिए।
उपायुक्त पूनिया ने सभी विभागीय अधिकारियों को रोड सेफ्टी प्लान तैयार कर 15दिसंबर तक प्रेषित करने के निर्देश दिए। साथ ही उन्होंने सुरक्षित स्कूल वाहन पॉलिसी की भी पूर्ण अनुपालना करवाने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने सभी एसडीएम को निर्देश दिए कि वे अपने क्षेत्र के स्कूलों की बसों की जांच कर निर्धारित मानकों की पड़ताल करवायें। अंडर ऐज वाहन चालकों के अधिकाधिक चालान के निर्देश भी दिए। बैठक में एएसपी नितिका खट्टर, एसडीएम विजय सिंह, एसडीएम सुरेंद्रपाल, हरियाणा रोडवेज सोनीपत डिपो के महाप्रबंधक राहुल जैन आदि संबंधित अधिकारी व कर्मचारी मौजूद थे।
