भारत के ऑफ स्पिनर आर अश्विन ने रविवार को सरे के लिए अपना पहला काउंटी चैंपियनशिप मैच खेला और एक बड़ा मुकाम हासिल किया। सरे काउंटी मैच में ओवल में समरसेट का सामना कर रहे थे और न्यूजीलैंड के तेज गेंदबाज काइल जैमीसन के स्थान पर अश्विन को प्लेइंग इलेवन में रखा गया था।
इंग्लैंड : भारत के ऑफ स्पिनर आर अश्विन ने रविवार को सरे के लिए अपना पहला काउंटी चैंपियनशिप मैच खेला और एक बड़ा मुकाम हासिल किया। सरे काउंटी मैच में ओवल में समरसेट का सामना कर रहे थे और न्यूजीलैंड के तेज गेंदबाज काइल जैमीसन के स्थान पर अश्विन को प्लेइंग इलेवन में रखा गया था। इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ आगामी टेस्ट सीरीज की तैयारी के लिए काउंटी चैंपियनशिप में सरे के लिए खेलने वाले अश्विन को समरसेट के कप्तान जेम्स हिल्ड्रेथ के टॉस जीतने और बल्लेबाजी करने के लिए चुने जाने के बाद पहला ओवर करने के लिए कहा गया।

अगस्त 2010 के बाद से पहले ओवर में गेंदबाजी करते हुए, अश्विन 11 वर्षों में काउंटी चैंपियनशिप मैच में पहला ओवर फेंकने वाले पहले स्पिनर बने। अपने पहले ओवर में अश्विन ने समरसेट के सलामी बल्लेबाज डेवोन कॉनवे और स्टीव डेविस को गेंदबाजी करते हुए सिर्फ 2 रन दिए। 40वें ओवर में आशिन भी मैच में एक विकेट लेने में सफल रहे, उन्होंने टॉम लैमोन्बी को 42 रन पर आउट कर दिया।

सरे के लिए अश्विन का यह पहला काउंटी मैच है। वह इससे पहले नॉटिंघमशायर और वोस्टरशायर के लिए खेल चुके हैं। सरे के लिए यह उनकी एकमात्र उपस्थिति होगी, क्योंकि मैच के बाद, वह इंग्लैंड टेस्ट के लिए आगामी अभ्यास सत्र के लिए इंग्लैंड के बाकी शिविर में शामिल होंगे। भारत और इंग्लैंड के बीच पहला टेस्ट 4 अगस्त से शुरू होगा।
