धूमकुड़िया – एक 14 वर्षीय नाबालिग की सच्ची कहानी पर आधारित झारखंडी फिल्म, 12 जुलाई को प्रतिष्ठित 2021 कान फिल्म समारोह में प्रदर्शित की जाएगी।
फिल्म के निर्देशक, नंदलाल नायक, एक फोर्ड विद्वान, लोक कलाकार, संगीतकार और यूनाइटेड कलर्स ऑफ बेनेटन के पूर्व क्रिएटिव डायरेक्टर का कहना है कि वह अभी भी उस लड़की की आँखों से प्रेतवाधित हैं, जिसकी वास्तविक जीवन की कहानी पर उन्होंने अपनी फिल्म आधारित है, पहले से ही महत्वपूर्ण दावा उठाया।

धुमक्कुड़िया, 52 दिनों में प्राचीन और कुंवारी झारखंड के भीतरी इलाकों में फिल्माई गई, पहले ही 84 देशों में 60 से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कार जीत चुकी है।
अमेरिकन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडियन स्टडीज फेलोशिप जीतने के बाद, झारखंड के जाने-माने लोक कलाकार पद्मश्री मुकुंद नायक के बेटे नायक, 2003 के आसपास पारंपरिक आदिवासी लोक संगीत के लिए अपने गाँव लौट आए थे।
“मैं झारखंड के एक गाँव में आदिवासी संगीत पर शोध और दस्तावेज़ीकरण करने आया था… हिंदुस्तानी संगीत में वर्णमाला क्रम प्रणाली है, जैसा कि दुनिया भर के अन्य साक्षर समुदायों में है, लेकिन हमारे (आदिवासी) संगीत में ऐसा कुछ नहीं है। जब मैं अपने इस संगीत पर शोध करने गया… मैंने इस 14 वर्षीय लड़की को देखा।
फिल्म में प्रमुख किरदार रिंकल कच्चप और प्रद्युमन नायक ने निभाए हैं। इसके अलावा राजेश जैश, सुब्रत दत्ता, विनोद आनंद और गीता गुहा भी फिल्म में अहम भूमिका में हैं। फिल्म में काम करने वाले अधिकतर लोग प्रतिष्ठित राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्यालय से हैं। साजिश के तहत ये ड्रोन भेजे गए थे।
