न्यूजीलैंड टीम के लिए आज राहत की सांस ली है। न्यूजीलैंड टीम के मुख्य कोच गैरी स्टीड ने भारत के खिलाफ 18 जून से होने वाले विश्व टेस्ट चैम्पियनशिप फाइनल के लिए 15 सदस्यीय टीम की घोषणा की और चोट से उबरे केन विलियमसन ही टीम की कप्तानी करेंगे।
एसएस न्यूज.साउथम्पटन। न्यूजीलैंड टीम के लिए आज राहत की सांस ली है। न्यूजीलैंड टीम के मुख्य कोच गैरी स्टीड ने भारत के खिलाफ 18 जून से होने वाले विश्व टेस्ट चैम्पियनशिप फाइनल के लिए 15 सदस्यीय टीम की घोषणा की और चोट से उबरे केन विलियमसन ही टीम की कप्तानी करेंगे। न्यूजीलैंड टीम के कप्तान केन विलियमसन कोहनी की चोट के कारण इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ दूसरा टेस्ट नहीं खेल सके थे। टॉम लाथम ने उनकी जगह कप्तानी की थी और न्यूजीलैंड ने दूसरा टेस्ट आठ विकेट से जीतकर श्रृंखला अपने नाम की। कमर की चोट के कारण दूसरे टेस्ट से बाहर रहे बी जे वाटलिंग भी टीम में हैं।
कोच गैरी स्टीड ने 18 जून से शुरू हो रहे विश्व टेस्ट चैम्पियनशिप फाइनल के लिये टीम के यहां पहुंचने के बाद प्रेस कांफ्रेंस में कहा, ‘‘केन और बीजे को एक सप्ताह के आराम से फायदा मिला है और हमें उम्मीद है कि फाइनल के लिये वे फिट और उपलब्ध होंगे।’’ उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘विश्व चैम्पियनशिप फाइनल खेलना खास मौका है और मुझे पता है कि ये खेलने को बेताब होंगे।’’ स्टीड ने कहा कि इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ मिली जीत के बावजूद भारत का सामना करना कठिन चुनौती होगा।
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘भारतीय टीम विश्व स्तरीय है और उसके पास कई मैच विनर है। हम किसी मुगालते में नहीं है क्योंकि उनके हराना काफी कठिन होगा।’’ न्यूजीलैंड ने 32 वर्ष के ऐजाज पटेल के रूप में एक स्पिनर को टीम में जगह दी है जिनके साथ हरफनमौला कोलिन डि ग्रांडहोमे होंगे।न्यूजीलैंड ने 20 सदस्यीय टीम में से पांच सदस्यों डग ब्रेसवेल, जैकब डफी, डेरिल मिशेल, रचिन रविंद्र और मिशेल सेंटनेर को बाहर रखा है।
कोच ने कहा, ‘‘इन खिलाड़ियों को बाहर रखने का फैसला आसान नहीं था लेकिन इनका रवैया निस्वार्थ था और टीम की मदद के लिये वे तत्पर है। हेनरिच और दूसरे फिजियो विजय वल्लभ 16 जून को जैकब, रचिन और मिशेल के साथ स्वदेश लौट जायेंगे।’’
