पूर्व कप्तान माइकल वॉन को लगता है कि न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ निराशाजनक प्रदर्शन के बाद भारत के खिलाफ पांच मैचों की टेस्ट श्रृंखला के लिये घसियाली पिच तैयार करने से इंग्लैंड को फायदे के बजाय नुकसान ही होगा।
एसएस न्यूज.लंदन। पूर्व कप्तान माइकल वॉन को लगता है कि न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ निराशाजनक प्रदर्शन के बाद भारत के खिलाफ पांच मैचों की टेस्ट श्रृंखला के लिये घसियाली पिच तैयार करने से इंग्लैंड को फायदे के बजाय नुकसान ही होगा।
वॉन ने कहा कि इंग्लैंड ने गलती की कि उसने न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ दो टेस्ट के लिये अंतिम एकादश में एक विशेषज्ञ स्पिनर का चयन नहीं किया।
उन्होंने ‘टेलीग्राफ’ से कहा, ‘‘वे लार्ड्स पर भाग्यशाली रहे क्योंकि बारिश आ गयी। लेकिन लगातार दो हफ्तों में एक सी गलती करना तो रणनीतिक चूक है। विकेट से काफी टर्न मिल रहा था लेकिन जब एजबेस्टन में गर्मी और पिच पर सूखापन होता है तो आपको वैरिएशन (विविधता)की जरूरत होती है। ’’
वॉन ने कहा, ‘‘चार तेज गेंदबाजों के आक्रमण में आप अपने तेज गेंदबाजों से ज्यादा गेंदबाजी करवा लेते हो जबकि तीन तेज गेंदबाजों और एक स्पिनर में ऐसा नहीं होता इसलिये अगर आपने जैक लीच को चुना होता तो जो रूट अपने तेज गेंदबाजों को तरोताजा भी रख सकते थे। मुझे उम्मीद है कि इंग्लैंड भारत के खिलाफ यही गलती फिर नहीं दोहरायेगा। ’’
भारत के खिलाफ श्रृंखला चार अगस्त से शुरू होगी। वॉन मानते हैं कि इंग्लैंड को अच्छी विकेटों पर लंबे मैच खेलने में बेहतर होना चाहिए।
वॉन ने कहा, ‘‘मैं भारत के खिलाफ घसियाली पिचों पर नहीं खेलना चाहूंगा, भले ही इससे उन्हें दो टेस्ट मैचों में जीत मिल जाये क्योंकि इससे उन्हें कोई फायदा नहीं होगा क्योंकि उन्हें आस्ट्रेलिया में और इससे आगे भी खेलने के लिये तैयार होना है। उन्हें सीखने की जरूरत है कि अच्छी पिचों पर कैसे खेला जाये और जीता जाये। ’’ भारत और न्यूजीलैंड के बीच 18 जून से शुरू होने वाले विश्व टेस्ट चैम्पियनशिप के फाइनल में वॉन ने न्यूजीलैंड को प्रबल दावेदार बताया।
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘भारत के खिलाफ विश्व टेस्ट चैम्पियनशिप फाइनल में मेरे लिये न्यूजीलैंड प्रबल दावेदार हैं। उन्होंने दो बहुत प्रतिस्पर्धी मैच खेले जिससे उनका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ेगा। भारत ने भी टीम के अंदर ही अभ्यास मैच खेले हैं लेकिन इसमें इतनी प्रतिद्वंद्विता नहीं थी। ’’
