भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने गत देर शाम को अपने प्रत्याशियों का ऐलान कर दिया जिनमें नगर निगम सोनीपत से भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता ललित बत्रा को मेयर का प्रत्याशी बनाकर चुनाव मैदान में उतारा है ललित बत्रा इससे पहले भी भाजपा की टिकट पर वर्ष 2005 में विधानसभा का चुनाव लड़ चुके हैं और दूसरे नंबर पर रहे थे। ललित बत्रा का कहना है कि वह चंडीगढ़ की तर्ज पर सोनीपत का विकास करना चाहते हैं जिसके लिए उन्होंने एक योजना भी तैयार की है साथ ही उन्होंने कहा कि किसानों का जो आंदोलन चल रहा है उसमें सरकार किसानों से बातचीत कर समाधान निकालने की कोशिश में है।
