जिस व्यक्ति की घटनाएं कहानी बन जाए वो व्यक्ति अमर हो जाता है। राजनीति को गांव-गांव तक पहुंचाने वाला भारत देश में वृद्धों को सम्मान भत्ता देने की शुरुआत करने वाला एक नाम देवी लाल है। जिसकों लोगों ने प्यार का नाम दिया ताऊ इसलिए इनको जाऊ देवी लाल भी कहा जाने लगा यह नाम लोगो की जुबान से होकर सीधा दिलों में उतरता गया। ऐसा व्यक्त जो राजनीति तो करता था लेकिन किसी भी दल में उनका कोई विरोधी नहीं होता था ऐसा नेता जो सरकार तो चलाता था लेकिन किसान जब आंदोलन करते तो वो कहता यह काम तो हमें करना चाहिए। ऐसा व्यक्ति प्रधानमंत्री की कुर्सी को त्यागता है खुद चुनाव जीत कर आता है लेकिन अपनी जगह दूसरे नेता को प्रधानमंत्री की कुर्सी दे देता इसलिए यह अमर बलिदानी कहा जाता है इसलिए जननायक बनता इसीलिए लोग उनके संसार में ना रहने के बाद भी उनके नाम से वोट मांगते हैं।

ऐसे व्यक्तित्व की चर्चा हम आज आप से कर रहे हैं तो उनके जीवन के खास लम्हों को भी जान लेते हैं उनके जीवन सफर कैसा रहा है उसकी भी जानकारी आपको देते हैं। तो हम दिल की गहराइयों से नमन करते हुए ताऊ देवी लाल को याद करते हैं
इनको कहते हैं चौधरी देवी लाल जिनका जन्म 25 सितंबर, 1914 को हुआ और मृत्यु- 6 अप्रॅल, 2001 में हुई। यह भारत के उप प्रधानमंत्री पद तक पहुंचे, भारतीय राजनीति के पुरोधा, किसानों के मसीहा, महान् स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, हरियाणा के जनक, राष्ट्रीय राजनीति के भीष्म-पितामह, करोड़ों भारतीयों के जननायक जैसे संज्ञा और विशेषणों से इनको नवाजा गया।
त्याग, बलिदान को नया आयाम देने वाले देवीलाल
ज़िला सिरसा, हरियाणा में पिता चौधरी लेखराम माता श्रीमती शुंगा देवी के घर 25 सितंबर, 1914 एक बच्चे का जन्म होता है जिसका ना देवी लाल रखा जाता है।बाद में इनका विवाह श्रीमती हरखी देवी से होता है। भारत की राजनीति में यह नाम चमकने लगता है। कोई किसानों के मसीहा कहता है तो हरियाणा जनक, राजनीति के भीष्म पितामह कहलाने वानला देवीलाल हरियाणा का मुख्यमंत्री बनता है, जन आन्दोलन और स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के लिए संघर्ष करता है जेल भेजा जाता है। देवी लाल सन् 1977 से 1979 तथा 1987 से 1989 तक बतौर मुख्यमंत्री हरियाणा प्रदेश नेतृत्व करते हैं। केन्द्र में जाते हैं प्रधानमंत्री के पद का त्याग करते हैं। भारतीय राजनीतिक के इतिहास में त्याग, बलिदान को नया आयाम देने वाले देवीलाल लोगों के दिलों पर राज करते हैं। यह ऐसा नाम जिसने किसान, मज़दूरों, गरीब एवं सर्वहारा वर्ग के लोगों के लिए संघर्ष किया हारे नहीं विजय पथ पर चलते चले। भारतीय राजनीति में उनका कद उनके कर्म की खुशबू से महकता हुआ ऊंचा होता चला गया।
चौधरी देवी लाल का सफरनामा एक नजर में
देवी लाल ने अपने स्कूल की दसवीं की पढ़ाई छोड़कर सन् 1929 में लाहौर में हुए कांग्रेस के ऐतिहासिक अधिवेशन में स्वयं सेवक के रूप में हिस्सा लिया। 1930 में आर्य समाज ने नेता स्वामी केशवानन्द द्वारा बनाई गई नमक की पुड़िया ख़रीदी, जिसके फलस्वरूप देशी नमक की पुड़िया ख़रीदने पर देवीलाल को हाईस्कूल से निकाल दिया गया। देवी लाल स्वाधीनता संघर्ष में शामिल हो गए। इनको कई बार जेल यात्राएं भी करनी पड़ीं। अपने स्कूली जीवन में मुजारों के बच्चों के साथ रहकर नायक की भूमिका निभाई। महात्मा गांधी, लाला लाजपत राय, भगत सिंह के जीवन से प्रेरित होकर भारत की स्वतंत्रता के लिए संघर्ष किया। 1962 से 1966 तक हरियाणा को पंजाब से अलग राज्य बनवाने में निर्णायक भूमिका निभाई। सन् 1977 से 1979 तथा 1987 से 1989 तक हरियाणा प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में जनकल्याणकारी नीतियों के माध्यम से पूरे देश को एक नई राह दिखाई। अन्य राज्यों व केन्द्र ने भी अपनाया। इसी प्रकार केन्द्र में प्रधानमंत्री के पद को ठुकरा कर भारतीय राजनीतिक इतिहास में त्याग का नया आयाम स्थापित किया। वे ताउम्र देश एवं जनता की सेवा करते रहे और किसानों के मसीहा के रूप में उनका महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान रहा।
1 नवम्बर, 1966 को अलग हरियाणा
संयुक्त पंजाब के समय वर्तमान हरियाणा जो उस समय पंजाब का ही हिस्सा था, विकास के मामले में भारी भेदभाव हो रहा था। उन्होंने इस भेदभाव को न सिर्फ पार्टी मंच पर निरंतर उठाया बल्कि विधानसभा में भी आंकड़ों सहित यह बात रखीं और हरियाणा को अलग राज्य बनाने के लिए संघर्ष किया। जिसके परिणामस्वरूप 1 नवम्बर, 1966 को अलग हरियाणा राज्य अस्तित्व में आया और प्रदेश के निर्माण के लिए संघर्ष करने वाले चौधरी देवीलाल को हरियाणा निर्माता के तौर पर जाना जाने लगा।
ताऊ के सम्मानजनक अलंकरण से अलंकृत देवीलाल
चौ. देवीलाल आज हमारे मध्य नहीं हैं, लेकिन उनका बुजुर्गाना अंदाज, मीठी झिड़कियां सही रास्ते की विचारधारा की सीख के रूप में जो कुछ वो देकर गए हैं, वह सदैव हमारे बीच रहेगा। चौ. देवीलाल अपने स्वभावनुसार पूरे ठाठ के साथ, झुझारूपन एवं अनोखी दबंग अस्मिता के साथ जीये। आज अपनी मिट्टी से जुड़े तन-मन के दिलो-दिमाग पर राज करने वाले देवीलाल जैसे जननायक ढूंढने से भी नहीं मिल सकते।
जनहित के कार्यों के रूप में स्व. देवीलाल जन-जन के अंत: पटल पर जो कुछ अंकित कर गए हैं, वो लम्बे समय तक उनकी याद जो ताजा कराता रहेगा। जन-मानस बर्बस स्मरण करता रहेगा कि हरियाणा की पुण्य भूमि ने ऐसे नर- केसरी को जन्म दिया था, जिसने अपने त्याग, संघर्ष और जुझारूपन से परिवार के मुखिया ताऊ के दर्जे को, राष्ट्रीय ताऊ के सम्मानजनक एवं श्रद्धापूर्ण पद के रूप में अलंकृत किया।
