नई दिल्ली: भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश (CJI) उदय उमेश ललित ने मंगलवार को प्रतिष्ठित पद के लिए नामित न्यायमूर्ति धनंजय यशवंत चंद्रचूड़ को अपना उत्तराधिकारी बनाने की सिफारिश की और पत्र सौंपा। अनुशंसित पदोन्नति के साथ, न्यायमूर्ति डी वाई चंद्रचूड़ भारत के 50 वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश बनने के लिए पूरी तरह तैयार हैं। वह 10 नवंबर, 2024 तक इस पद पर बने रहेंगे।

केंद्रीय कानून मंत्री किरेन रिजिजू ने अपने उत्तराधिकारी को नामित करने के लिए न्यायमूर्ति यूयू ललित को एक पत्र लिखा था, जो 9 नवंबर, 2022 से प्रभावी होगा।
इससे पहले, सुप्रीम कोर्ट में न्यायाधीशों के शेष चार रिक्त पदों को भरने की बोली अधूरी रह गई, क्योंकि सीजेआई के नेतृत्व वाले पांच सदस्यीय कॉलेजियम ने सबसे वरिष्ठ न्यायाधीश डी वाई चंद्रचूड़ और न्यायमूर्ति एस ए नज़ीर की आपत्तियों के कारण एजेंडे को “डिस्चार्ज” कर दिया। नियुक्ति के प्रस्ताव पर लिखित सहमति मांगने पर।
शीर्ष अदालत में वर्तमान में 34 की स्वीकृत शक्ति के मुकाबले तीन महिला न्यायाधीशों सहित 29 न्यायाधीश हैं।
परंपरा यह है कि निवर्तमान CJI कॉलेजियम विचार-विमर्श के माध्यम से न्यायाधीशों की नियुक्ति के मुद्दे को उत्तराधिकारी पर छोड़ देते हैं, जिस दिन कार्यालय में उनका शेष कार्यकाल एक महीने का हो जाता है।
एक अभूतपूर्व विकास में, सुप्रीम कोर्ट कॉलेजियम ने पैनल में दो न्यायाधीशों के नाम सार्वजनिक किए, जिन्होंने शीर्ष अदालत में न्यायाधीशों की नियुक्ति पर अपने सदस्यों के विचारों को जानने के लिए अपनाए गए “संचलन” के तरीके पर आपत्ति जताई थी।
