नई दिल्ली: भारतीय वायु सेना के ग्रुप कैप्टन वरुण सिंह का पार्थिव शरीर गुरुवार को भोपाल पहुंचा और आज बैरागढ़ के एक श्मशान में पूरे सैन्य सम्मान के साथ उनका अंतिम संस्कार किया जाएगा, जैसा कि उनके पिता सेवानिवृत्त कर्नल के.पी. सिंह। 8 दिसंबर को दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुए एमआई-17वी-5 हेलीकॉप्टर में ग्रुप कैप्टन वरुण सिंह सवार थे, जिसमें चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस जनरल बिपिन रावत और उनकी पत्नी सहित 13 रक्षा कर्मियों की मौत हो गई थी। सिंह दुर्घटना में अकेले जीवित बचे थे जिन्होंने बुधवार को दम तोड़ दिया।

मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने राज्य हैंगर में मृतकों को श्रद्धांजलि दी और उनके परिवार से भी मुलाकात कर उन्हें सांत्वना दी. उसके बाद उनके पार्थिव शरीर को उनके आवास ले जाया गया। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि “राष्ट्र अधिकारी के मूल्य को कभी नहीं भूल सकता। वह राज्य और देशवासियों की यादों में हमेशा जीवित रहेंगे।
चौहान ने यह भी कहा कि ग्रुप कैप्टन वरुण सिंह के नाम पर उनके परिवार से सलाह मशविरा कर किसी संस्था या भवन का नाम रखा जाएगा। सीएम ने यह भी कहा कि शोक संतप्त परिवार को एक करोड़ रुपये की अनुग्रह राशि और परिवार के एक सदस्य को सरकारी नौकरी भी प्रदान की जाएगी।
दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण खबर मिलते ही उनके परिवार के सदस्य, रिश्तेदार और शुभचिंतक भोपाल स्थित उनके सन सिटी स्थित आवास पर पहुंचे. उनके पड़ोसियों ने याद किया कि जब भी वे घर आते थे तो कैसे वे पार्टी का आयोजन करते थे। उनके एक सहयोगी ने कहा, “हमें उम्मीद थी कि वह ठीक होने के बाद चार से आठ महीने में हमारे बीच वापस आ जाएगा, लेकिन ऐसा नहीं हो सका।
